Hello again. This is a rewrite of a previous entry, which was itself edited.
Why I Do It
Why have I did this? It is partially a part of who I am. When I was a teenager, I read op-eds in my local newspaper (New York Daily News, today woefully a fraction of its old glory). I sometimes used them as a launching point to respond, thinking about the issues along the way.
The Internet provided me a much larger canvass. It also allowed me room to engage with others regarding a range of issues. For instance, until the email attached to it was suspended, I had over 100 reviews at IMBD.
IMBD also had an active message board. The online publication Slate used to have a discussion board attached to its articles called the "Slate Fray." I'm that guy who was excited to get a "star" as a favored contributor.
Substack provides me another platform. I continue to have a range of interests. I have also linked up my content found in other places. Three websites run by a retired Bronx high school teacher (history, symbols, books) have a lot of my content.
This material is edited in certain respects, including pictures added and some additional content such as discussion questions. Not all the content on the websites are mine. If anyone is interested, I will provide clarification on specific materials. For instance, a blog on critical race theory has a final statement from the web owner.
My content on Substack and places other than those three sites are (unless otherwise noted) all mine own.
Subscriptions
I appreciate all those who read my material online. I especially appreciate those who find it useful. You can subcribe to this Substack to keep track of my content here. There are a lot of other good people here.
I recently noticed that someone suggested they were open to paying for my content. This was equal parts suprising and appreciated.
My online activity was not intended to be financial. Nonetheless, it does require a good deal of effort. The entries are not law review articles or the like. They are intended to be intelligent analysis with diligent sourcing.
My web editor on those three websites is a bit bemused by the number of links I include. Nonetheless, they are important. News articles should spend more time linking to materials they discuss, including laws and court opinions.
So, if anyone does wish to subcribe ($8 a month appears to be the basic going rate), it would be appreciated. I can quote 1 Timothy 5:18, but then I am wary of text proofing.
I appreciate everyone who reads my content here and elsewhere. Happy reading!
